4minute’s HyunA and B2ST’s Hyunseung share a steamy kiss at ’2011 MAMA’! @ 4:55 AM

On November 29th, 4minute‘s HyunA and B2ST‘s Hyunseung shocked their fans with a racy stage at the ‘2011 MAMA‘ in Singapore — a stage that included a long, steamy kiss.

HyunA and Hyunseung brought out a risque performance to introduce their new project duo, ‘Trouble Maker‘. Dressed up in evening gowns and suits, the two danced provocatively against a moon-lit background.

Fans went wild over their very intimate choreography, which had Hyunseung touching HyunA’s legs, HyunA jumping onto Hyunseung and wrapping her legs around his waist, and finishing off with a passionate embrace.

Check out the performance for yourself down below!

SNSD members share their secret to maintaining long, shapely legs @ 4:54 AM

The ladies of SNSD recently returned with a sexy new concept and are pleasing fans with their explosive stage performances.

As they previously did for “Gee“, and “Tell Me Your Wish“, the girls are donning skinny jeans for their “The Boys” promotions, showcasing their long and shapely legs.

The girls often pair skinny jeans with long leather boots, accessorizing with corsets and tiaras to give off a sexy and intense feminine image.

Along with performing on stage, the girls are also featuring on various variety programs. Members Seohyun, Sooyoung, and Yuri recently guest-featured on an episode of SBS ‘Diet Survival‘, wearing long black boots by Jinny Kim with gold adornments which gave it a simple but modern look. The girls shared simple leg exercises that viewers can easily follow along with at home to create the same shapely legs as the SNSD members.

Viewers who saw the episode responded with comments like, “It’s an exercise you can easily do at home, which is nice“, “SNSD works hard to have nice legs“, and more.

IU slips and falls at the ’2011 Melon Music Awards’ @ 8:43 PM

On November 24th, singer IU won the ‘Best Song of the Year’ award at the ’2011 Melon Music Awards’ for her popular hit, “Good Day“. Delighted by the win, IU walked quickly towards the main stage to receive her award, but unfortunately, slipped and fell before reaching the mic.

Like the pro she is, she got right back on her feet and received her award. Embarrassed, she said, “Hello everyone, this is IU…“, before she laughed it off.

IU quickly thanked her parents and staff members before returning to her seat. The concerned artists around her asked if she were okay, and with a bashful smile, IU remarked that she was not badly hurt.

SNSD members devour snacks and talk about their eating habits @ 8:39 PM

On the November 23rd airing of KBS 2TV‘s ‘Star Life Theater – SNSD‘, the dressing room of the SNSD ladies were revealed for their fans to see.

The members were seen busily preparing themselves to go on stage for a music program. The girls who have recently been photographed exhausted and drained due to their busy schedule were more than ecstatic when they saw their staff bring snacks into the room.

In an instant, a buffet table was spread out for the members to feast on. The girls had copious amounts of ddukbokki, fried foods, kimbap, chips, beverages, and the like.

“We are always eating. We need to eat to survive“, Tiffany remarked with a laugh. Seohyun added by saying, “We definitely eat more than three meals a day“.

“We probably eat something like five meals a day“, Tiffany said, surprising the ‘Life Theater’ staff members.

When asked if they go on diets regularly, Tiffany responded, “We don’t diet. I mean we do sometimes, but it’s just to maintain our figures“. Hyoyeon added, “If we gain a little weight, we diet, and if not, we eat“.

This episode especially garnered attention as Tiffany recently began starring in musicals while Hyoyeon and Sunny have been making appearances on variety programs more regularly.

A Pink reveals MV for “My My” @ 7:06 PM

A Cube Entertainment‘s girl group A Pink has returned with a MV that stays true to their candy-sweet image.

The girls are promoting “My My“, a pop song that really brings back that ’90s sound from original K-Pop idols like S.E.S. and Fin.K.L. A Pink went into throwback mode for their music video as well, as they dressed up in jerseys and the classic white T/blue jeans combo.

Check out their video below, and stay tuned for their comeback performances later on this week!

[Review] A Pink – ‘Snow Pink’ @ 7:01 PM

A Pink is back with their 2nd mini-album, ‘Snow Pink‘, picking up exactly where they left off. The question is, is this as bad of a decision as we’d immediately think it to be?

The “cute concept” is something that is both reviled and accepted among the international K-pop community – reviled for its lack of creativity where all it takes is a flowery background and “innocent” looks to pull it off, and accepted because of the simple fact that it’s everywhere. So it stands to reason that when A Pink released the concept for their second mini-album, many K-pop fans cringed at the thought of yet another aegyo-packed music project.

But here’s the thing: A Pink managed to surprise with their take on ‘cute’, and in a way that was tasteful.

I’ll be explaining why after a run-through of all five tracks in ‘Snow Pink’.

The album opens with “He’s My Baby“, which sounds like your typical SNSD filler track. It’s a bit of a disappointment considering that their last mini-album ended so promisingly with tracks like “Wishlist” and “Boo“, two interesting productions that sounded like ‘Owl City meets K-Pop’. Luckily, most people don’t expect much from the first track, knowing that gold lies in the second or third.

But there’s one thing that “He’s My Baby” did well — it successfully introduced the ‘theme’ of the album, which in this case, established that A Pink would be continuing with their bubblegum-pop sound.

Fans of S.E.S. will experience a major flashback with A Pink’s “My My“. It’s like hearing a reincarnation of S.E.S.’s classic track, “I’m Your Girl“, but with a slightly faster BPM to make it platable to modern tastes.

“My My” sounds like something S.E.S. would’ve or could’ve done, and that’s really the charm of this track. This ’90s sugarcoated R&B/pop jam stays true to a classic sound that’s rooted deep within K-Pop’s core. While it’s manifested itself in other forms with great success (see: SNSD’s “Gee“), “My My” gives K-Pop fans old and new a chance to hear that old-school style in its original state.

The EP quickly picks up with “Yeah“, arguably the closest thing to a striking production in ‘Snow Pink’. Underneath all the cute melodies and playful arpeggiated chords lies a dubstep/dnb-influenced percussion. The influence is subtle and falls slightly short of being innovative, but moments like these separates A Pink from being just another cute girl group falling under the shadow of SNSD’s former image.

“Like A Dream” sounds a lot like the Koreanized version of “Take A Bow“, a song produced by Ne-Yo for Rihanna back in 2008. While it acts as a breather from the other uptempo tracks in the EP, “Like a Dream” is hardly memorable and lacks the lyrical substance to keep our attention. There isn’t much to say, except that it’s the obligatory album ballad.

Finally, the EP closes with “Prince“, a fast-paced dance pop number that reminds us of something Girls’ Day would’ve wanted to release. It commits to A Pink’s elegant and fairytale-like sound palette, which wraps up this album quite nicely.

One of the advantages of using the same sound palette throughout an album is that it makes it cohesive, meaning that the album flows smoothly track by track, regardless of track order. That is exactly what we’re hearing here, and while there’s a threat of listeners getting bored of an album like this, A Pink utilized just enough variation in their EP to keep us entertained.

SNSD’s Tiffany sheds tears as she talks about her family @ 7:00 PM

On the November 23rd airing of KBS2 ‘Star Life Theater‘, the ladies of SNSD revealed what their everyday lives are like off-camera.

SNSD’s Tiffany showed her soft side as she shared a story about her family. She began by revealing that when she joined the group, she was only 16 years old. “It had only been two years since my mother had passed away, and I didn’t know it at the time but I was lost and a little rebellious. The only thing that made me happy was music.”

“And the more I worked, the further my relationship with my father suffered. I thought about it, and I realized I have spent very little time with him. It breaks my heart“, she admitted, unable to hold back her tears.

But on the same episode, Tiffany was able to put on her first successful musical performance, earning the high praises and cheers of the audience members.

North Korean celebrities are struggling because of the Hallyu Wave @ 7:31 PM

Radio Free Asia (RFA), a non-profit organization that operates a radio station and internet news source, recently published a story about North Korean celebrities being forgotten due to the Hallyu Wave. Apparently, South Korean movies and dramas are spreading like wildfire inside the isolated country and are devouring low-quality North Korean films.

According to an insider in North Korea, “I don’t know anything about new North Korean songs or movies that have been released. There are only 3-4 [North Korean] films that are produced each year, but since there are so many South Korean movies laying around, no one pays attention to our [North Korean] films.”

Not only are North Korean films low in quality due to insufficient budgets, they lack creativity and are considered boring because all the material only praises Kim Il Sung‘s family. Thus, it was reported that citizens and young people completely ignore films and entertainment produced by their country.

North Korean celebrities are suffering significantly due to the Hallyu Wave, mainly because South Korean celebrities are gaining much popularity, while North Korean celebrities are becoming forgotten. Multiple insiders state, “People related to the North Korean entertainment business ignore the demands of the people and solely focus on Kim Jong Il‘s propaganda. People can expect to see the end of North Korea’s entertainment industry“.

North Korean youths who defected from the country were able to name several South Korean films including ‘Stairway to Heaven‘ and ‘Scent of a Man‘, while they were unable to recall any names of actors/actresses from a particular North Korean film.

It’s not just North Korean movies and dramas going down the drain — the music industry is declining as well. An insider explained, “All songs, including new ones, involve chants and praises for Kim Jong Il or the Worker’s Party. No one wants to listen to them.”

South Korean netizens were quite amused by the news and commented, “Aren’t all North Korean songs practically hymns that praise that dictator pig?“, “There are celebrities in North Korea? That kind of occupation exists? Wow“, and “I can feel the end of North Korea nearing..“.

Check out this clip to get a taste of North Korean music.

A Pink releases 2nd mini-album, “Snow Pink” @ 7:29 PM

After making a solid debut back in April, A Pink has returned with their second mini-album, “Snow Pink“!

Released on November 22nd, the album consists of five tracks. The girls will be promoting “My My” as their main song, which carries a delightful ’90s flavor in its composition. The remaining four tracks also fall under that youthful, bubblegum sound that A Pink is now famous for.

Check out their mini-album below, and don’t forget to support the artists by purchasing their album.

SNSD’s Sooyoung and Tiffany transform into dolls for ‘Vogue Korea’ @ 4:24 AM

SNSD‘s Sooyoung and Tiffany transform into antique dolls for the December edition of ‘Vogue Korea‘.

These photos were taken by the famous photographer Jo Sun Hee and have a sophisticated fairytale theme. Professional model Kim Won Joong acted as a toy soldier for the pictorial. The girls gave off a ‘model vibe’ with the help of their sophisticated clothes and makeup.

In related news, SNSD has been taking over all of the music programs with “The Boys“, winning ‘Music Bank’ for four weeks in a row, getting a triple crown on ‘Ingigayo’, and taking home first place three weeks in a row at ‘M!Countdown’.

Tiffany of SNSD’s white shorts: hot or too short? @ 4:17 AM

On November 17th, the ‘Coway! Please take care of my mother tonight!‘ concert was held at the Grand Hall in the L Tower.

The concert was hosted by Kim Shin Young and lasted for two hours. Famous artists such as Jang Hye Jin, Kim Bum Soo, and SNSD gathered for a fun concert which aimed to promote Coway’s product line of water purifiers.

All 9 members of SNSD were present and they performed five tracks including: “The Boys“, “Gee“, “Oh!“, “Genie“, and “Dear Mom“. Fans and audiences alike had much fun as the girls rocked the stage with their hit tracks. The concert even drew loud laughter as Taeyeon and Sunny became victims to static hair, causing much laughter among the crowds.

Unfortunately for Tiffany, many criticized her short shorts which they deemed to be inappropriate for the stage. Several shots of her shorts from the performance have gone viral and many netizens are arguing whether they were too short or passable.

While the shorts are high-waisted, what’s getting viewers and fans riled up is the fact that the bottom hem rests right below Tiffany’s butt, easily riding up and exposing the idol, as exhibited in a large segment of photos taken at the event. Some say that the wardrobe stylist should have been more attentive with an issue that would’ve easily caught people’s negative attention like this.

There have been a mixed set of reactions from netizens. Those who criticized the outfit commented, “That looks embarrassing“, “SM, please have some restraint -.-“, and “I can see her butt cheeks.”

Meanwhile those who favored the outfit responded, “What a great view!“, “She’s allowed to wear them because she has pretty legs“, and “Marry me?”

Check out the photos and concert videos yourselves and share us your thoughts! Do you think people are overreacting, or was this a fashion mishap that shouldn’t have happened?

Jiyeon’s photo especially drew interest, as the idol showcased an innocent type of beauty. She brushed back her bangs and didn’t wear any makeup, which gave her a ‘pure-looking’ image. Meanwhile, Victoria looks as sophisticated as ever with her thick curls and deep bangs. Considering how both girls are now at the forefront of the idol-fashionista line, netizens couldn’t hold back their surprise at seeing their fresh-faced looks.

SM Entertainment to release a boy group next year? @ 1:44 AM

According to Newsen, SM Entertainment will be releasing another idol group for the first time in three years.

An insider has reported that SM Entertainment will be releasing a boy group, bringing together Korean, Japanese, and Chinese members in order to better reach out to a more international audience. The number of members have yet to be decided, however the group will be also working as units after their official debut.

SM Entertainment has not released a new idol group after the release of f(x) back in September of 2009. SM artists have grouped together to form the ‘SM the ballad’, but no new faces have emerged from the agency.

For the past two years, SM has been putting on SM TOWN LIVE concerts all over the world, spreading K-pop awareness in Japan, China, Southeast Asia, as well as crossing over to Europe, and completing successful sold-out shows in major American cities such as Los Angeles and New York.

SM Entertainment has successfully promoted their artists through their official SNS and Youtube channel, and likewise, fans will be able to immediately receive updates on their new upcoming idol group through these sources as well. What’s garnering more attention is the fact that SME is breaking the current trend of girl groups and will be releasing an all-male idol group.

SNSD to host their own show @ 1:43 AM

It has just been announced that SNSD will become the hosts of their own talk show.

jTBC channel held a press conference on November 15th and explained, “We are producing [a show called] ‘SNSD’ featuring SNSD.”

Although this has been done before in Japan with SMAP on ‘SMAPxSMAP’, this will be the first time that a talk show starring members of a group will be produced in Korea.

‘SNSD’ will feature the nine members as talk show hosts, and will be produced by PD Yoon Hyun Joon, who has produced other talk show programs such as ‘Win Win’.

The official air date has not yet been announced, but it was revealed that ‘SNSD’ will be aired every Sunday at 7:30 PM. The time slot will put them in competition over viewer ratings with KBS‘ weekend dramas, and MBC and SBS’ news.

Update: Shortly after this article had been written, new information regarding the show has been released.

jTBC has announced that instead of a talk show like it had been reported, a variety show will be produced featuring all the members.

The show’s air time has conflicting reports on whether it will be aired on Saturdays or Sundays. If the show is aired on Saturday, it will put the show in competition with MBC’s ‘Infinity Challenge’, KBS’s ‘Immortal Song 2′, and SBS’ ‘Star King’.

The tentative air date has been reported as December 4th.

During the talking segment on the show, Yoona revealed, “My blood type is B, and we are known to lose our cool sometimes“.

She began, “Just like the incident with Jessica’s stalker, there was once a time when a fan was waiting for me in front of our dormitory. He got inside before the door could close, and he ran up the stairs when I stepped onto the elevator.”

But instead of taking the elevator up, the suspicious Yoona decided to go up the stairs. She stared at the fan straight in the face before finally losing her cool and calling him over to scold him. “Excuse me, do you live here? You’re not allowed to be on these premises!”, she yelled to the fan.

She continued, “However, after getting to know him more, he was actually a really nice guy so we sent him off nicely“, revealing that Type-B’s don’t stay mad for long.

Yoona also shared a story about how her pants tore during a performance at the Tokyo Dome in Japan, earning her a new embarrassing nickname.

On the November 15th episode of ‘Strong Heart‘, SNSD‘s Yoona praised the INFINITE members by saying, “We are cheering for INFINITE. They’re extremely synchronized when it comes to their dance, and they work really hard“.

Fellow member Tiffany added, “When we watch them dance, it reminds us of ourselves when we first debuted“, as she smiled thinking about the past.

MC Lee Seung Gi then bluntly asked Tiffany which member had left the biggest impression on her, causing everyone to jeer at his obvious attempts to create a love line as INFINITE’s maknae Sunjong anticipated her answer. To his dismay, however, Tiffany honestly admitted with a shy smile, that is was “Hoya“.

Sungjong was quick to express his hurt feelings by stating, “Oh, maybe Hoya should’ve come out today instead…“, continuing the laughs on set.

In related news, the SNSD members previously revealed that they were fans of their junior idol group, INFINITE on SBS Power FM ‘Choi Hwa Jung’s Power Time‘, garnering the attention of netizens.
